PartI-PoolOfVisionsPart I - Pool of Visions - - - Wolffury sat down absentmindedly licking her front paw. World had never seemed so strange. She was a young by druid standards, being one of the first females ever accepted into the order, but she was a trusted student and apprentice of one of the Ancients of Lore and liked to think that she knew much about these things. Something here just didn't make sense... The cat that was Wolffury sighed and lay down, trying to remember what had happened. She did remember the Great Cat spirit (who wouldn't?). She did remember how the spirit guided her to shores of one of the lakes. She remembered the smell and the taste of the waters in Moonglade. But every time she tried to remember something past it... Something that happened before she met the Great Cat spirit things just got out of hand. Seriously. Everything past that point was more or less a chaos of odd memories and recollections. She remembered odd sounds and the loud and bringht colors. She did remember almost a full absense of smell and taste. That was scary. Not smelling things like she did now seemed frightening. And then there was the really strange memories. Memories of flying (yeah, as if cats could fly!) and memories of feeling the wind rustling in her leaves (leaves? what leaves? it was not like she was a tree or something). Wolffury growled and stretched herself. Her memories didn't make much sense so she could as well forget them. Great Cat had said something to her. Something about tasting the water from the Pool of Visions. Strangely enough she did know where Pool of Visions was, but didn't know why she knew. The way was long, though. She did remember it... From Moonglade to Felwood, from Felwood to Ashenvale, from Ashenvale to Barrens, from Barrens to Mulgore. Even a long trip takes the first step to start. She took a step. Then another. Then she stopped, stretched herself one more time and broke into a run. If the Great Cat had said she must taste the water of the Pool of Visions, then it was what she had to do. - - - Kamakhya Wolffen stared intently at the schematics on the table. They did seem correct, but the latest test results told her that something was wrong with the device. She was quite sure she got the possible cause narroved down to where the thorium widget connected with the plasmatronic chamber that held the sould fragment. The issue was somewhere in the connection but she couldn't quite point out where... Kami, as she was usually called, took a long, hard look around her. Around her, scattered into the room, was seventy six pages of assorted schematics, two empty bottles of rum, a soulbag (with sixteen pink shards in it), three broken thorium widgets, a container filled with two gallons of prime quality essence of undeads, two tonk controllers, three large tomes written in demonic script and one bored looking felguard. Apart form the felguard that was basically just standing there and looking big Kami had everything she thought she needed to make the device work... and still, it didn't. Moments like this made her think she shouldn't have followed her fathers footsteps into the fasinating (but also utterly frustrating and quite dangerous) field of demonotronic engineering. "Okay, get up you big idiot." Kami told her felguard, "Its time for me to go out and you know what it means, don't you?" Felguard stopped fiddling with the tonk controller and looked at the gnome as if it had not understood a single word. Kami sighed. "Right. Off you go." she said dismissing the felguard back into... Hmm... Well, whatever hell it was that it came from. She felt much safer with a demonic bodyguard at her side, but for some reason the druids here didn't like to see them. Maybe "not like" was a bit wrong expression... If she did remember it correctly (yes, she was drunk and pursued by three haunted spirits at that time) one of the druids had actually killed (well, actually banished) her felguard when she came into Moonglade. Maybe that is why she was put in "house arrest" here. One of the druids, the girl called Wolffury, had been quite helpfull and even loaned Kami her room, but when they had ventured into the hills around the Moonglade to test Kamis new "Spiritual Communication Amplifier (Beta Versions)" the girl had suddenly turned quite strange... Well, actually she had turned into a big, black cat and ran off muttering something about having too go and taste (?) the Pool of Visions. Kami had not seen her since. Druids certainly were funny folk, not logical and predictable like the gnomes. Not at all. - - - "What happened then, you ask?" Wolffury nodded. "It's a long story, but I'll try to outline the most important details. Lets see... Due to communicating directly with the Great Cat Spirit himself, I was lapsed into a feral state and I don't know much about the things that happened in Moonglade or Theramore. What I do know is that Zarhan found me, tamed me and brought me back into my senses. I'm ever thankfull to him for that. Then we set out to discuss what had happened and I told everyone of the corruption I had tasted in the waters of the Pool of Visions." "I do not know if you are familiar with the weather patterns of the Azeroth, but to cut a long story short here I'll just say that most of the water that ends up into the Pools of Visions inside Thunder Bluff are actually from ocean north of Sunwell. The winds pick up the moisture there, transport it over the northern parts of the continent, across the great sea and over the plains of Barrens. When the high winds finally meet the mountains that divide Mulgore from Barrens the water rains dwon and some of it end up to Pools." "In the end we had narrowed the reason for the corrupt taste to two possibilities: The Forsaken Undead living in the cave under Tauren protection or, a much more sinister possibility, something coming from the Ocean itself. In order to inevstigate it more we did a quick assault into the cave to secure a sample of the water from the Pools and then headed home. As for the other things that happened during that day... Well, you just have to ask someone else." |
