Well, then I guess you might like the more attractive freaks more
Well, Finncon is a sci-fi con co-located with Animecon, so the latter was a bit more...prominent
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
- basically teenagers cosplaying kinda stood out from grizzlied old Isaac Asimov fans. Organizers now saying that event had over 15000 visitors which seems more or less accurate, place was bursting..

You must have seen Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke or something?
It's anime - but not in the transforming-robot / ninja-catgirl being raped by a tentacle-penis-demon kind of way.

To put it plainly, Disney is like the US version of Ghibli. They are working together a lot today by the way.

Yes, I'm back in Japan (heading back soon).
Did someone mention catbus? Indeed. This was bought out by a friend during our previous trip in August:

Saying that is not anime is an interesting opinion but hardly corresponds with the actual meaning or use of the term anime in japanese or in english:
In Japan, the term anime does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it serves as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world. English-language dictionaries define anime as "a Japanese style of motion-picture animation" or as "a style of animation developed in Japan". (snatched this from wikipedia)

Anime is an abbreviation of animeeshon (romaji) or animation (normal english), just like dijicam is an abbreviation of digital camera (or dijitaru kamera in romaji).
I wonder though if Japanese use the term anime for outlandish animation as well.

A cat bus! And it's even got that silly expression from the
movie! *grin* Excellent Zarhan!
I'm so glad I got the Ghibli DVD box from Japan before
they decided to start selling them here in Sweden.... in 2
boxes hillariously expensive and even then you don't get
all the movies!

Yes they do. It just us gaijins using it to mean specifically Japanese animation. If they specifically mean outlandish, then it's "western anime" or similar.

Verdisil, in Osaka you can find Ghibli store in Tempozan mall area, in Hiroshima it's in the Hondori shopping street. In Tokyo - well, you can just visit Ghibli museum near Mitaka
