[RG1] Ord, Lvl 100 Retribution Paladin
Posted: 03 Dec 2015, 00:08
Hi!
Who is your character?
Ord, retribution MS with Holy OS (mostly for PvP-- not that great at healing ... yet!)
Who are you?
My name is Eppu Jauhojärvi, I'm 22, from Sweden.
To which Raid Group are you Applying?
I would prefer to join RG1, but if that's full or if I'm needed elsewhere I'll gladly join RG2.
Experience
WotLK (as Warlock):
- 12/12 10M HC Icecrown Citadel
- 7/12 25M HC Icecrown Citadel
WoD (as Paladin):
- 7/7 HC Highmaul (as prot)
- 10/10 HC Blackrock Foundry (as prot-- switched to retri after first Blackhand kill)
- 2/13 Mythic Hellfire Citadel (would have killed more bosses, but our raid team was too small )
Raid Role
Currently I raid as a melee DPS, and I find it a lot more compelling than tanking. It's easier to look at other melee dps (namely other retris) and improve by mimicking them. In Skärselden and Djungelpatrullen I've had another Retribution Paladin to compare myself to and this helped me improve immensely (by trying different trinkets, gear pieces, specs, and general tactics). Mostly I just talk to him or other friends to theorycraft and get new ideas.
Your Spec
Well, pre-potting into one charge of wings, using crusader strike, exorcism, and hammer of wrath (off CD always-- high prio) to build holy power so that I can use templar's verdict on 4-5 charges (sometimes 3, depends on procs) and lots of divine storming to build increased damage buff for more templar's verdict.
EDIT// Totally forgot about Judgment-- but that's in there too, obviously!
Retribution is fairly straight forward; build holy power as efficiently as possible and spend it as efficiently as possible. CD management is important too, but saving a charge of Avenging Wrath to sync it with the Legendary Ring is often times the way to go.
In single target fights (Like Reaver, Council, or Gorefind) I use the class trinket and thus Crusader Strike usage goes up by a lot to keep the buff up. Losing those stacks really hurts the dps of Retribution and we'd preferably just hug the boss when using it.
Talents:
- Pursuit of Justice. I like this one because it gives me a passive speed increase-- one less thing to think about.
- Fist of Justice. Longer stun. I find it better than the other two alternatives.
- Selfless Healer. When this procs I throw it on someone with low HP. Gives me some utility.
- Clemency. Also for increased utility, Hand of Sacrifice is just too strong.
- Sanctified Wrath. For single target this is the better talent, for AoE I use Divine Purpose for more Divine Storm procs.
- Execution Sentence. For single target fights with lots of movement this is the clear choice. AoE and if a bit of heal is needed I use Light's Hammer.
- Final Verdict. I prefer this to Seraphim (easier to use). But Empowered Seals scales better with gear, so thinking about making the switch soon.
For stats I go Strength > Haste (to 15%) > Mastery > Crit > Multistrike > Versatility (which is a horrible stat, truly)
My glyphs are for defense and utility, making me more useful in a raid environment. In other settings I could go Mass Exorcism or Double Jeopardy-- but it rarely feels like it's worth it.
Off-specs and Alternative characters
I do not have a lot of experience healing in raids. I've played quite a lot of Holy PvP though, so I can handle sudden HP drops and things like that. My weaker areas in my OS would include proper mana management, working with other healers, knowing when to pop CDs etc.
I'd gladly learn, however!
I don't really raid with alts-- so they're pretty far behind in terms of gear and progression.
Communication
I have a microphone and I intend to use it. I like talking to, and getting to know my fellow raiders.
I also have a thing for forums ... so yes, I would hang out here quite a bit.
Combat Logs
Sorry-- I haven't been the one logging for my guild, but I can start now and provide you with a log as soon as possible!
Your UI
UI
I like to keep it simple, and hide most things when I play.
Guild History
- Founded Nebuchadnezzar here on Defias with some friends at the start of the expansion.
- We merged with Skärselden where I was an officer. Our GM went inactive and feeling constricted we left to make a new guild.
- Born out of this was Djungelpatrullen. But once we got the Moose almost every single core player (being tired of HC and never getting enough people to properly play Mythic) decided to quit and wait for Legion.
... So here I am.
Raid availability
I can make all raid times.
References
I've been on this server since Cataclysm and seen you around for the most part of it. So I felt like you were a familiar face (and looking for melee dps according to wowprogress )
I don't know anyone in this guild, sadly.
About you
Random facts? Don't mind if I do:
- I'm the oldest of 3 siblings, always taking care of my younger sisters.
- Working with the Swedish Armed Forces since 2013. (This might actually hinder my raiding availability sometimes)
- My favourite game of all time is Rune: Halls of Valhalla-- and I've played since 2001.
- Love films. Love having an opinion about films.
- I drink way too much coffee, and suffer at work when we don't have access to it.
- Allergic to whining and complaining.
Miscellaneous
Nothing further to add, sorry, but I'm looking forward to your response. Thanks for reading!
