Thomas

Experience
I have played World of Warcraft since TBC. I started raiding in WOTLK.
[WOTLK]

[CATACLYSM]
Character: Paladin(Healer)
Raids: Blackwind Descent(Heroic)6/6, The Bastion of Twilight(Heroic)3/5, Throne of the four winds(Heroic)2/2, Dragon Soul(Normal)7/7
Character: Warrior
Raids: Dragon Soul(Normal)7/7
[MOP]
Character: Death Knight(DPS)
Raids: Mogu'shan Vaults(Heroic)5/6, Heart of Fear(Heroic)4/6, Terrace of Endless Spring(Normal)4/4
I didn't include any LFR or FLEX.
Raid role
Since I don't have a current raid team I will explain what I did on my Pala and DK
[Skill upkeep]
One of the most important things with everything in life. I constantly think about how to better myself.
Before any raids:
When learning how to get the most out of my class I first look at multiple websites (Icy veins, ElitistJerks, Simulationcraft, forums for top 10 guilds etc.). I take the information that most of these resources tend to agree on. Normally that would include stuff like the basic rotation. Second I take this information and go test it ingame. I play enough so that I can do it perfectly. After I can perfectly execute the basics I start to theorycraft. I talk with my raider friends, do simulations for my own character in specific(to determine what makes the highest DPS in my iLevel), read discussion forums to find things to finetune and simply use my brains.
After some raiding:
This is the most important part for progress. Since there's usually no "encounter guides" to look at in high level raiding.
Because I now know the encounters I can start to think about how to specifically play during a certain encounter. I look at for example: How long the encounter is?(To determine how many times I can use my BASIC CD's in a single encounter.), What talents to use?(How spread out the group is? adds or no adds? CD's or passives? Any useful abilities for this encounter?), when damage spikes occur?(When to use CD's and when to conserve my mana), Any extra DPS phases?(Again when to use CD's etc.). I use logs to accurately determine some of this data.
Most major decisions like positioning, Major CD's and generally who does what and when are decided with group. I try my best to provide suggestions.
[Basic prep]
I ofc make sure my gear is optimized and that I have flasks and potions. It's to be expected for mythic so I'm not gonna write about it.
[Judging performance]
I look at these things when judging my performance.
- How many times we wiped because of me.
- Was there something I could have communicated better.
- What my HPS/DPS was compared to others.
- How much I contributed to tactics etc.
- How fun the raid was for me and others.
Talent choices
Sadly I can't do this properly since I don't have proper SoO experience. I can give you some insight into how I choose my talents though it might not be very useful when evaluating me. I will properly think about talents when I can personally test them at level 100.
Tier 1: I prefer Desperate Prayer because it can be used even if you never fall under 30%. I would only use Angelic Bulward if I feel like I'm suddenly dieing without having time to react.
Tier 2: I prefer Angelic Feather over Body and Soul cause you can use it 3 times in a row if you want to unlike Body and Soul what is blocked by Weakened Soul. I would only use Body and Soul if I feel like I can't land Feathers. Phantasm is pretty useless since it doesn't work on all mechanics and movement speed is almost always better if there isn't a really hard mechanic that Phantasm actually works on.
Tier 3: I feel like Mindbender is the least useful cause it doesn't provide any output. I use Surge of Light because it provides most output when healing a lot(It has synergy with serendipity as well). I would use Solace if I wanted a on demand instant cast instead of relying on procs or if wanted to regen mana instead of just saving it. Both are very good choices.
Tier 4: These don't work on most encounters. Void Tendrils might be useful if there's small adds you need to root in an encounter.
Tier 5: I pretty much always use Power Infusion cause you can use it when there's a huge damage spike in a encounter. I can't see any encounter based choices here.
Tier 6: I would use cascade when people are all over the place and not stacked. Divine Star used to be good when the raid was stacked though I don't know how good it is in 6.0. Halo is good as well when there's a lot of people not stacked around you withing those 30 yards.
Glyphs: Glyphs are very situational and since I'm not doing this properly I can't explain them very well. The glyphs I have on currently are for max output when mana isn't a problem and I'm using them mainly in dungeons and LFR.
Off-specs and Alternative characters
Both of my characters are in my character section. I have experience playing both healer and DPS so I can play both characters with Healer and DPS specs. Pick what you need most.
Communication
I'm fine communicating when needed(And talking just for fun as well). I have a very nice mic bought exclusively for this purpose. I already check these forums frequently so it's most definitely fine with me.
Combat Logs
Sadly I haven't raided for some time so there's no logs.
Your UI
Bars in the middle are raid warnings. My actionbars are on mouseover.
Guild History
I have many guilds I can't even remember anymore but the guilds I raided the most with are:
Finlandia - Wildhammer (Disbanded)
No skill just luck - Wildhammer (I quit playing for some time and after I came back I changed to this server to play with my friends.)
I want to play with you guys cause after being with you as a social for some time I have noticed how awesome you are.
Raid availability
Currently it seems like I can and will be able to raid on your times. I wouldn't have applied otherwise.
References
I'm already in the guild so I hope I have proven to you that I am not a dick
About you
I'm a Computer Science student and I actively want to help people and just have a nice time. I try my best at life but I still think it shouldn't be taken too seriously. I hope I can get to know all of you better
Miscellaneous
whether you decide to give me a chance or not I hope we can have a nice time doing dungeons in WoD.
