Raider - Deliciouses, Shaman

Post by Simon » 09 Jan 2019, 00:07

Who is your character?
Deliciouses, Shaman, Enhancement (377 ilvl equipped) and Resto (378 equipped)

Who are you?
I'm Simon, 26, originally from Wales, but now living in Oxford, England.

Experience
With the current expansion, I've pugged 8/8 hc Uldir and 2/8 mythic on my Shaman.
The last time I've properly raided before that was back in WotLK. I was co-leading a guild (Red Goes Fast) to clear Naxx as a prot warrior while it was still current content, and went on to clear TotC and heroic lich king as an arms warrior whilst current content, with Origin, a different guild (from our tank's POV: https://youtu.be/9HFxVuYHvhk).

Raid Role
I just get stuff done; I don't tend to moan, complain or get angry. I read up on the encounters, and watch videos where it's required (although sometimes you just have to experience it). I tend not to compare my performance with others, as it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges; I'd rather just analyse my own performance to see what I could've done better. To keep up to date, I use simulators such as AMR and sites like icy-veins, plus a bit of trial and error.

As DPS, my role is to damage where safely possible, but as a shaman, I bring a ton of utility, too. Stuns, slows, heals (sometimes surprisingly good heals), dispels and CCs. I've gotten very good at predicting 2 seconds ahead when mobs are going to do things!

Your Spec
Enhancement
Stats: Haste is great, Crit is Good, Mastery is Okay, Versa is trash.
Rotation: Keep flametongue up > SS proc > LL proc > Sundering > SS > Rockbiter on 2 stack and <60 mael > LL > RB
Crash lightning whenever I can hit 2 targets with it
I've gone for Hot Hands over Lightning Shield since the nerf of LS in 8.1, but I haven't seen many other shamans do the same. Partly because the sims said it's now better, but mainly because of the amount of times I've got to the end of the dungeon before realising LS wasn't up.

Resto:
Stats: Crit and Mastery are good
Rotation: Riptide, HS totem as much as possible. Deluge and Wellspring for AOE. Healing Wave as a filler, healing surge for burst
I really don't like chain heal, deluge and wellspring are so much more mana efficient. In general, I tend to be really mana efficient; half-way through most raid fights I'd be in the bottom half of healing done, but lowest by far on overhealing and at full mana, catching up quickly at the end of the fight.

I'm not really as clued up on resto compare to enh, though

Off-specs and Alternative characters
I would consider Enhancement as my main spec, but am comfortable healing if needs be. I can also play Ele, but I don't enjoy it as much, and it's probably about 80% of what I can do in Enh at the moment.

I also have a rogue, darkírondave (https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/chara ... %ADrondave), and a mage Käse (https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/chara ... /K%C3%A4se), on the server, but I don't play the rogue a lot, and almost never log onto the mage.

Communication
Yes to all, Simon#26768

Combat Logs
I usually just use Details in game, and have a dump of what's currently on there here:

Happy to log something in something else if you'd prefer

Your UI
S is for forwards. Shaman has too many buttons D:

Guild History
Since WotLK, I've only really been in guilds with friends. Nothing that would really be relevant nowadays. See experience above for raiding guild experience.

Raid availability
Wed/Sun nights are fine for me.
