What do you see the paladins as?
In raids / pvp / anything what do you see paladins as? (most directed to other classes then palas)
Getting kinda curius cuz I already know that when Vel is 70 (if I even play after expansion) I wont be needed for anything. maybe for BoK but that 90% of all palas will have cuz of the prot tree now.
Sigh, why must blizzard always !"#¤%& everything up to make balance, if they want balance, horde must have Humans, Nelfs, Dwarfs, Dreanai and Gnomes and allaince must have the rest of Hordes races.
Well last part is kinda me just leting stuff out, dont bother that but please answer question if ya like.
(internet sucks so if it duble posts sorry bout that)

I view paladins as, like druids, a hybrid class - great for everything =)
Smack something about, heal somebody else, tank a mob off me - you guys are great.
However, I see the paladin's primary role as being upto the paladin, and his /her choice of talents. When grouping with a pally (like with a druid), I always ask him/her what they're specialised in, and then work around that. I'd never actively ask a holy paladin to tank - it would be better for the paladin (and for the group!) to find a warrior or feral. But there's nothing to stop the paladin tanking something off me, if the warrior's incapacitated (providing everybody's hp is ok, ofc) - it could even work out better that way (healing me wouldn't stop my spells being interrupted, for example, whereas tanking something off me could).
However, and this is a little off-topic, I think a lot is to be said for hybrid classes having different sets of armour for each role, even if you have few talents in that line. It's really useful especially if a group [if they are crazy enough 0_o] wants Arl as a healer to pop on my "healer" set and go as the healer (as long as we don't wipe or there's a paladin to provide the res hehe). There's nothing to stop me winning some nice leather for tanking/dps should it drop =D (except maybe a rogue or a ninja!).

Re: What do you see the paladins as?
In a raid point of view, paladins should be much better than shamans. Or at least that's what my raider-friends sayVelianatos wrote:

I can't say much about paladins really, it's one of 3 classes I never really tried (+shammy & druid). You're a complete bore to duel anyway
What I think is good is that you can choose to be healer or dps or tank, which is quite something. You might not be as good a tank as a warrior, or as good at dps as a rogue, but at least you don't have to reroll if you want to do the other thing
And if you think that all palas will have the BoK thing, then do another spec! Specialize in something else. Don't let other people decide what spec you have, it's supposed to be fun to play.

Hmm have Blizz done it again? killed something I love, anyone know what happend with Tact mastery in new talents with warriors?
Yes it is to have fun, that I know but still I love my spec now. and It cant be better with shield poo and stuff.
but ofc Blizz first Uther now the rest of us. arrgh!
Cant wait for frigging Be paladins, only gotta get something to dispell shield + let Hein lose on them.
Just for this Ive got the perfect Rp for Hein, he will be a Arthas fanatic.
just some black cloths + a nice sword....

I haven't played a paladin much, and it clearly isn't "my class" but I enjoy playing with them very much. As for all hybrids, there are some limitations in each aspect, but it is very versatile class. Might be off-tank, off-healer and dps in a same package.
Don't know for a higher level aspects of the game, but what I've been in instances, pallys can tank pretty well. They also can do noticable amount of damage and can heal pretty well.
So, paladins are great.
Edited a funny typo....

I've played a pally only in to the 30's and found it incredibly easy. Unfortunately, I didn't really get on with the style of play - it can get a bit dull.
However, what I do know of them is they are an excellent support class - they're excellent to have in a group because they will fill whatever holes there are in the group - not enough healing - the pally will off-heal, tank loses agro - the pally will off-tank, need some more dps - pally will get stuck in. I think of the pally as the Polyfilla of classes - someone to fill in the gaps.
This doesn't sound particularly glamorous but a good pally can make an average group excellent.

Uhm... this is actually pretty embarrassing to write, but how do I play a Paladin?
As Ive heard, Paladins should be in the fray, even when healing to provide DPS and the occassional Judgement... And I just cant find the time to do that when I am spamming heals! The only time I do have the time, is when the group meets one or two mobs, if there are more I just hit healing to keep the group alive. Is there a skill I have missed that would ease this? Or am I doing the right thing from the beginning?

I see Paladins as the best PvP class there is, because of its healing capabilities and goodies such as Hammer of Justice and possible Repentance and Eye for an Eye, but mostly for their immunity shield and cleansing. It's amazing what these guys can do in organised team vs team pvp in the BG's. You can basically win the first fight in Blacksmith but the paladin will still be standing with his annoying shield, allowing respawns to zerg Blacksmith again. As for WSG... lol, just lol. Goodluck trying to get the flag back with 2 paladins healing the flagcarrier hehe. Woosh, Lay on Hands.
I have absolutely no experience with paladins in PvE tough The only experience I have with paladins atm is PvP, seeing as I have never been an alliance char before. But my best guess would be that your job is the exact same as shaman. Shamans can dps aswell, but their abilities to buff the raid and heal are far better than their DPS over time. Same goes for Paladins. So healbotting all the way I'd say. People will love you for doing it and the result will be much better, giving you and everyone else a much better feeling about the raid. You'll have just as much fun supporting the raid as you would have as DPSer anyways, regardless of what people think. DPSing is hammering the same button over and over and allthough it's cool to play a mage for example, it can become quite boring
