"Hey Pierre, do you smell what I smell? Eet is bacon I am sure of eet."

"Oui, Jean Paul, eet smells like bacon to mee".

So, with renewed strength, they struggle up the next sand dune, and
there, in the distance, is a tree loaded with bacon. There's raw bacon, dripping with moisture, there's fried bacon, back bacon, double smoked bacon - every imaginable kind of cured pig meat.

"Pierre! We ees saved! Eet EES a bacon tree!"

"Jean Paul, are you sure ees not a meerage? We ees in the Desert don't forget.."

"Pierre when deed you ever hear of a meerage that smeell like bacon - eet is no meerage, eet is a bacon tree".

And with that Jean Paul races toward the tree. He gets to within 5 meters, with Pierre following closely behind, when all of a sudden a machine gun opens up and Jean Paul is cut down in a hail of bullets.

It is clear he is mortally wounded but, true friend that he is, he manages to warn Pierre with his dying breath.

"Pierre", eh says, "Go back, eet is no bacon tree."

"Jean Paul, mon ami, what ees it?"

"Eet is no bacon tree, eet is an 'am bush."

Until the punchline I was seriously puzzled as to why two Frenchmen would speak English with a French accent to each other.

Yes, I am like that. It bugs me. Why do nazis in some of those war movies speak English to each other, but with thick German accents?

I could have easily made the above post into two posts. But, you see, I happen to believe it's not the quantity of posts that matter, but rather

For the simple reason that I can not write in French and I doubt many of the people on this forum can read it.

Similarly in films with Germans. In Germany the English characters probably speak German in ridiculous English accents while drinking tea and wearing bowler hats.

Did I say hats? What I meant to say was hats.

Hats. I have a theory about hats.

It is my opinion that since the wearing of hats become less popular, the politeness of people has lessened. The hat is linked with etiquette - tipping your hat to say hello, taking your hat off when going indoors etc - and the loss of that level of eitquette started the steady decline of manners until we are left with the mannerless yobs that the younger generation is today.

Grumble, grumble, moan, moan, bah humbug.

Hats are placed on heads.

Fact!

Ah, but doesn't that very same younger generation often wear baseball caps?

I wonder if I could wake a friend at 0700 tomorrow to go and grab a cup of coffe... She once waked me up at 1300, so it would be kind of a payback
