After a well-deserved raid break, we took it upon us again to tackle our first heroic boss and we delivered straight away. Without relying on exploits we simply got him down slowly but certainly. Luckily by the time I died, the boss was already almost dead and we burned him down with only 1-2 more deaths.
A very well done job all! On to the next heroic kill!
We’ll focus on rhyolith and majordomo heroic next. Since we already killed rhyolith on normal, we’ll try majordomo on sunday/tuesday. So, read up on the changed tactics. I’ll try to update it here and in the forum the next few days.
Forgot to make a picture again! Oh well, we can make one next time.
With the vacations and to allow some time to regroup to replenish our ranks for those that sadly had to leave us indefinitely, we’ll be having a break until 08/09/2011. Feel free to sign up as backups for raid group 2 which is just starting up now on wednesday/sunday/monday. You are also free to pug firelands e.g. and/or baradin hold during this time.
Although he’s not leaving us, Ametsuchi has found a new job which sadly doesn’t allow for a raiding hobby besides it. Therefore we’re looking for a replacement shaman or similar type of dps.
A guild has been created for the new MMO The Old Republic, so head on over there and apply for a spot if you intend to play this MMO when it comes out. We need 10 people at least to apply for guild testing so be quick!
You can find the guild here:

With over 80 wipes and perhaps only surpassed by rhyolith in number of wipes, we finally got him down after excruciatingly close wipes (the 15th wipe even got counted as a kill by world of logs for being too darn close).
We got him just in time too with people going on vacation soon. That’s not to say that the rest of the raids for the month are cancelled. We’ll have shannox heroic this thursday already so read up on him!
Thanks all for sticking by until 23:30 to get this one down and a special thanks to those that backed us up while we had many not available!
It took us almost a full raid to get him down and some tactic changes like trying with the cat phase first and back, but we finally got him down with our original tactic and a little more practice on handling the orbs later on in the fight (thanks to starting with cat phase for some tries).
A big thank you to all that endured the hours of wiping and pat yourself on the back for a job well done!
Now all that’s left is Ragnaros. Let’s get him down tuesday!
All the practice the raid before bore its fruits as we one-shotted her tonight without breaking even a sweat (well, it *was* kinda hot though, so people were sweating from heat).
Congratulations to all that wiped all night to come to this penultimate conclusion tonight.
Afterwards we went on to Majordomo Staghelm and almost got him down at least three times to 1%. We’ll get him next time!
The *easy* boss is finally down! Major pain in the ass was people at first dying around 10 stacks already. With some proper cooldown usage some managed to stay alive a lot longer though, leaving small enough doses of damage for our more size challenged raiders.
On to Alysrazor!
Although he made life hard for us with his hounds, in the end Shannox proved no match for The Raven Council. One more lieutenant down, we steadily progress further into the Firelands.
Additional info by Gunnolf:
As we had only two ranged and only one of them being reliable in doing 30k hits on rageface, this proved to be a bit difficult to do without people dying.
So, after lots of wiping due to single deaths and switching between keeping rageface alive longer and then killing him fast again, we finally found a balance in having enough people on rageface and having some more backup on the 30k hits to get him down.
Congratulations all on this feat and also a big welcome to our newest hunter: Leonhard!
Anyone got some axe? No need, because the spider is already down!
The difficulty was mostly in getting the balance right between dps upstairs and downstairs, as well as getting the spinners managed so that there were enough webbings to get up fast enough. For the rest I don’t know how hectic it was downstairs while I was enjoying the view upstairs, but we made it in the end.
A big thank you as well for Clar and Leo for filling in the empty spots!
